Stop Copying Their Platform. And Find Your Own.
Intuition over algorithm. Every time.
There comes a time in every founder’s life where you have to listen to your intuition, even against playbooks by very successful people who’ve been doing this a very long time. Because you’re not them, and they aren’t you. You can absolutely learn from their strategies. But there is still power in intuition. And I think that power applies to something as simple as choosing a platform.
Permission to tap in from the body and decide which one lights you up. Where you’re most likely to actually keep showing up, keep posting, stay consistent.
Because everyone talks about consistency. Productivity. Discipline. No one talks about the fact that it’s easier to do those things when you’re doing them on a platform that actually lights you up. That’s what makes the difference.
When we think about the GOATs out there, people like MrBeast, Alex Hormozi, Cody Sanchez, Steven Bartlett, especially if you’re a creator or wanting to be one, figuring out what that platform is is so key. They share a terrific playbook, and they share a lot about how they got to where they are. Hormozi talks a lot about the power of one, finding that one platform, one offering, and doing it at least a hundred times before you touch anything else.
But for those still figuring it out, you might be comparing your beginning and middle to their end. They’re speaking from a place of knowledge, because they’ve already been there and done that.
What if that’s not how your brain works?
That’s the thing I keep coming back to. It’s about giving yourself permission to be playful across a few different platforms first, so you can find the one where, when you really tap in intuitively, you feel how you respond to it on a deeper level. Sometimes you won’t know until you’ve actually played with a few of them.
There’s obviously a deep seriousness to building a business and growing it, of course there is. But do all the measures around it have to be so serious? Not necessarily. I think there’s something to being playful as you figure out which avenue is actually right for you.
Because here’s the method, as I’m seeing it. Figure out your intuition first. What your body is telling you. What platform actually helps you show up the most. Then blend that with the advice from the GOATs. Books, podcasts, playbooks from people like Hormozi, Sanchez, Bartlett. They’re not wrong, and I’m still learning from them too. But their advice becomes so much more applicable once you already know which platform is actually yours. You’re not applying it blindly anymore. You’re applying it to something that already fits.
This is actually one of the first things I ask when a client comes to me ready for a content strategy plan. Which platform. And when they don’t have an answer, that’s exactly where we start. Not the content calendar. Not the captions. The platform, first. Because I’ve seen it firsthand, the strategy only works once someone is building on ground that actually feels like theirs.
Maybe you’re more of a consumer on Instagram or TikTok, scrolling more than creating. You have something to say, something to share, but those don’t feel like the right places to do it. Maybe Substack is. Maybe Threads is. That’s exactly where I landed. I started a podcast in secret a few months ago, no strategy, no promotion, and it just hit 1,000 downloads. I still don’t know what it’ll bring. But I know it felt right in a way Instagram, for that particular idea, didn’t.
You can do this. Trust what your body already knows. Then build from there.
If this is stirring something for you and you want to talk through what your platform actually is, I’d love to hear where you’re at. I have Pick My Brain hours now.

Ha! I just wrote a note about being tired of working for the algorithm.
